Upgrading caused major issues for a lot of people. The new thumbnailing is bad and not recommended. If you are also experiencing the Facebook Share thumbnail not appearing issue, follow these instructions http://danielhaim.com/2009/12/wordpress-how-to/... to downgrade to 2.8 from 2.9
